The terrace at double hill

Visit our outdoor tasting venue

Perched on top of the Double Hill farm is an old homestead. Abandoned long before we purchased the farm, all that was left were two large chestnut trees, an old apple orchard and a breathtaking view.

Today there is new life around the old chestnut trees. We have built a terrace with a bar, outdoor seating, a covered lounge, washroom facilities, and a tent in case of wet weather.

Whether you are simply cider-curious or a bona-fide cider-enthusiast, we would like to invite you to come and visit for a close-up view of our farm and orchards in an interactive tasting experience.

Our tasting room manager, Erin Turcke – certified sommelier, and wine educator – has crossed-over into cider to deliver an in-depth introduction and comprehensive overview of the craftmanship behind our line of ciders through specially curated flights and guided tastings. Erin can speak to the distinct style of each and every one of our ciders and help you navigate our range of styles and choose the cider that best suits your preferred tastes.

You certainly don’t have to visit The Terrace at Double Hill just to listen to us ramble on about the fascinating world of wild apples and orchards and cider-making. We are just as keen to have you simply allow yourselves to tune-out, raise a glass and take it all in. We proudly subscribe to the pace of ‘Island Time’ and welcome you to come and discover what makes us tick in whatever way you see fit!

Opening hours

Wednesdays to Sundays 12 Noon – 6pm

Victoria Day Weekend – Canadian Thanksgiving

TOURS

The Terrace at Double Hill will also mark the starting point for our guided tours led by owner/operator Sebastian Manago. Sebastian will lead you on an intimate and interactive (we encourage you to interrupt and ask all the questions) one-hour tour to highlight the history of the original farm, our ever-evolving contributions to the estate, and some of our hopes and dreams for the future of Double Hill Cidery.

Follow Sebastian along the century-old lines of hedgerows into our newly planted orchards for a brief tutorial on the all-important grafting process. We hope you will be as excited as we are as we showcase newly grafted trees that we continue to discover and transport back to the orchards in search of the perfect cider apple (spoiler alert: we have not yet found perfection) and if you sign up for the tour you will learn why this is absolutely not a vain pursuit and how it ensures the quality and consistency of our cider. Finally, you will walk through our barrel-room for a rare glimpse through the window of where the cider magic happens.

We will kick-off each tour by gathering at The Terrace for a brief introduction and raise a glass with a sampling one of our ciders and then reconvene to mark the end of the tour with a guided tasting through a specially curated flight led by Erin.

Tours have to be pre-booked.
